“Attitude” against Trump and his supporters…

Basket of Deplorables

Every so often we hear of someone being described as having “attitude.”  I came across such person, a neighbor, who motivated me to write this blog back in March.   Hillary Clinton motivated me to revise it a bit this week.

Having “attitude” refers to a person with an ugly or mean spirit toward something or someone he condemns or despises, with or without cause.

Hillary has “attitude.”  Here are her comments from early September 2016:

“You can take Trump supporters and put them in two baskets.” First there are “the deplorables, the racists, and the haters, and the people who … think somehow he’s going to restore an America that no longer exists. So, just eliminate them from your thinking…”

And who might be in the other basket backing Donald Trump?

They are people, said Clinton, “who feel that the government has let them down, the economy has let them down, nobody cares about them. … These are people we have to understand and empathize with.”

In short, Trump’s support consists of one-half xenophobes, bigots and racists, and one-half losers we should pity.

Hillary, queen of elitism, dissing over 50% of the US population.

In the case of those who oppose Trump, most have “attitude” against his supporters.   Many with “attitude” against Trump and his supporters call Trump supporters “trailer trash”, “low life”, “crude”, ”rednecks”, or “uneducated.”  Hillary calls them “the deplorables, the the bigots, the racists, and the haters.”

How elites and establishment types characterize Trump supporters.

Since these labels are false accusations in the great majority of instances, such person’s “attitude” is synonymous with being “bigoted” and “prejudiced.”

Who  with “attitude” would characterize half of the electorate in these terms?  Let me think.  Hmmm.  The terms “elitists”, “superiors”, “aristocrats”, “blue bloods”; “snobs”, and “supercilious” come to mind.

Those who insist on our nation “progressing” toward bigger government, a nation without borders, higher taxes, less personal responsibility, more government handouts, and more regulation have “attitude” against Trump and his supporters.  Those who favor socialist, Communist, or  lying, and deceitful opponents who hire paid disrupters, rioters and other rabble to shut down free speech are the ones with bigoted “attitude” against Trump supporters.

These are the types, in and out of government, that fuel Trump’s popularity.  It is the elitist, academic, “government can do no wrong”, “government-as-god” attitude of the elitists that propelled Trump to history-making political status.

If Trump supporters are “trailer trash” than the majority of the electorate may be trailer trash.  That’s a hell of a way to characterize your neighbor.

Only elitists do that.  We can only hope that the common sense of Trump supporters relegate the bigoted elitists to their high distant perches where they will do less harm to the rest of us low life.

Apparently only low life voters desire a candidate who has the demonstrated capacity and force of will to reclaim our nation from the slough of eight years of Obama hell.

Yeh, that's right. I ran a successful business (white collar) for 30+ years, put two kids (my own) through college, and now join other concerned Americans from all walks of life who look at Trump and sigh..."finally, someone with our values and concerns for the U.S...who speaks our language...has the resources to be relatively free of donor influences...but oh, oh...he's somehow "not a true conservative."

I guess I'm trailer trash by mainstream republican definition. Well, I'll be.

Grow up and stop blogging in a vacuum. Learn to have a real conversation without minimizing the other side's opinions. You're basically labeling your own basket of deplorables with broad sweeping generalizations about Clinton supporters. You really think the only people that are patriotic or military supporters want to vote for Trump? How close minded of you.

No vacuum here, Shannon. And I'm not running for office. It is a well established tactic of the left (such as Hillary) to demonize those who disagree with them. Bringing this issue to the forefront of public attention does not mean that the rest of us a "in a vacuum" or have a "closed mind." You have demonstrated the typical demonization and "name calling" of the left with your own demonization. It must be a leftist pandemic.

Oh, hmmm. I'm not sure you read my words. I assure you I am not demonizing anybody here. Actually if you review I didn't say anything against the "right." Your blog, however, makes a habit of listing liberal attributes that I find confounding and baseless. I would just like to see you treat both sides responsibly. Again, I'm not attacking the right here, I'm simply defending the idea of fair debate. I'm sure there are liberals in your life that you don't think are losers.

Oh, "grow up"; "stop blogging in a vacuum" are not "demonizing" statements?

Look, the left, including Hillary, and apparently you as well, specialize in preferring demonizing ahead of discussing the issues. Hillary, Billy, Barack, as well as a bunch of elitist, one-world-promoting Republicans prefer to demonize, character assassinate, and ridicule rather than discuss the merits of the issues.

The left thrives on this.

With regard to "blogging in a vacuum", unlike most of the left, I don't pander to every immoral, illicit, entitlement-promoting idea that comes across the media from the lips of progressives. A blog is about opinion. I have mine, which I will freely express on this blog site. I dare to say I exist in less of a "vacuum" than the majority of the population, of which you seem to be a part.

I've never heard Hillary mention any Muslims in her "basket of deplorables" in spite of their belief in an ideology that would like to eliminate our culture and replace it with Sharia under a caliphate. I've never heard her mention the large numbers of blacks who kill other blacks in big cities throughout America being a part of the "basket of deplorables." Hillary includes a unique group of people in her "basket": Those who love this country, respect its laws, believe in hard work and self-sufficiency, those who prefer smaller government, and those who appreciate the reason for national borders. These are the ones she loves to demonize. Count me among that group. It is a badge of honor. And Shannon? He or she agrees with Hillary.

Regarding: "I'm sure there are liberals in your life that you don't think are losers."

First off, I don't call anyone a "loser." Apparently that word comes easily to the lips of Shannon. Anyone who another person calls a "loser" might be very successful in their career. They may have lots of money. They may even appear to have a great family and lots of friends. They might even have won a lottery or two. How can you call someone like that a "loser" in spite of their ignorant or self-serving political ideas and choices.

However, I don't know any liberal, i.e. those who have not learned from their mistake of voting for Obama or who persist in voting for lying Hillary, whose world view or politics I respect. No, I don't' respect liberals at all. I think they are either naive and ill-informed or in it for the money, usually the taxpayer's money. The word "loser" is used most often by middle schoolers, those with a minimal grasp of the language, angry bloggers, and a ticked off candidate on occasion.

The few liberals I associate with refuse to discuss substance with me. If I persisted, they would resort to "type" and demonize me, a la "Shannon."

Speaking of Shannon, upon viewing her bio, I note that she is a female naval officer. Fortunately and noteworthy, her political views are in the minority in her miliary milieu. It is nearly certain that her offense at my calling attention to Hillary's and her supporter's snarkiness toward Trump's supporters is based on her gender - there is no other rational reason for her attitude.

Oh, the back & forth leftist/rightist rhetoric. What a bore.

My comment is about the word "attitude." It used to be that attitude simply meant a mental state of being. You had either a good attitude; bad attitude; aggressive attitude, etc. The current mis-use is that "attitude" means "mean spirited." What ever happened to "happy spirited" as in "she has a happy attitude?" Maybe the contemporary use of the word "attitude" as strictly negative is a sign of our national attitude. We each live in a capsule and everyone else has an "attitude."

Personally I like Trump's attitude that "we are all Americans...we can all get along." Surely beats the divisive attitude that some of us are deplorable.
