One of the Clearest Thinking Humans in America...

Thomas Sowell has to be in the top ten. His current column "A Post-Racial President?" continues his record of clear thinking.

Who is Thomas Sowell? He crossed my radar only in the past 6 months or so. Here is his website.

He is an economist, a prolific writer, a professor at Stanford University, and an accomplished photographer. He is also a conservative American who happens to be Black. He is a man worthy of learning from.

Here are some of his accomplishments. This list does little to extol the character of the man. Reading some of his writings will.

Racism vs. Cultural Diversity

Here's some "politically incorrect" soul searching.

Early in our lives we've been taught the evils of racism. More recently we've been taught the beauty of "cultural diversity". "Racism" and "cultural diversity" are flip sides of the same coin: They define degrees of acceptance of differences between human beings. Racism invokes the idea of "superiority and inferiority" while "cultural diversity" invokes the idea of equal value and respect of various cultures.

I have never considered myself a racist. But I do have difficulty with the concept of cultural diversity. Why? Because the concepts of "strength in unity" and "birds of a feather" make more sense. Different cultures are different by definition. Differences breed differences by nature. Total acceptance and respect of other's values minimize my own values. Their values may be "good information" from an academic standpoint, but if they were that good, I would assimilate them. And I don't. So I remain who I am - different. Differences remain.

Here are a couple of honest and contrarian opinions on the topics of "racism" and "cultural diversity" I found on another website in response to the "racism" charge against Obama and Gates. While politically incorrect, I found these comments stimulating food for thought:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"There's only one race: 'the human race'" and other such silly nonsense.

"Like Obama, I'm a racist too. The difference is that I make no bones about it like so many cowards do . Being the prez, Obama is coward number one, and also he's a freakin' socialist puppet dirt bag.

"I'm white and I'm proud of being white. I make no apologies for that. I don't hate blacks or chinese or what have you (they are good people too), but I prefer living with my own kind. I don't want to become a multi-racial mud person. If anyone wants to integrate with another race then they are very free to do so. But, I prefer my own kind, it's just very deep in my blood. It's very natural to "flock together" and modern lefty globalist politics can't change the fact that I feel that societies are much stonger when they are united. Multi-racial societies are NOT united, they are doomed to constant conflicts. That is just a fact that we see every single day. There is no cure for the race problem other than to segregate. Deep down everyone knows that!

"And you thought that Obama would make things better? duhhh! you stupido!

Go to an all white small town (if you can find one) and you can leave your front door unlocked. I like that ....very much so!

Go to Iceland and check out the crime rate...it's practically non-existant. Diversity ? Oh yeah, and for what? To live in constant conflict? For me, wide diversity is good in the world, not in my country. If I want to experience another culture (and I do), I will travel.

Nope, not for me. I'm a true rebel and I am not afraid to think outside the idiot box. Yup, I am a racist. So what? Everyone is, it's natural and it's essential for building a cohesive, functional and strong country....

Diversity is our strength, and I've got a bridge for sale. Stupido!

"[According to the Oxford English Dictionary, a racist is someone who believes "all members of each racial group possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially to distinguish it as being either superior or inferior to another racial group or racial groups."]

"I'm a racist.

"I think that blacks are superior at basketball and other specific areas of some sports.
I think that blacks are inferior at swimming , because they kinda' sink. They have a less buoyant skeletons (bones).
I think that whites significantly outscore blacks on standardized tests.
I think that chinese slightly outscore whites on standardized tests.
I think that there are more whites at the highest levels of the intelligence bell curve and that they are [more] inventive than the chinese.
I think that blacks have a higher tesosterone level than whites and therefore they are much more prone to violent crime, whereas chinese have a slightly lower testosterone level and therfore lower agression levels.
I think that the Williams sisters are completely pumped up on testosterone and that is very unfair. (just a womens tennis side note)
I think that I am so interested in facts and the truth and that I value the truth, and that is why I am definitely a racist.

[My note: I don't know how much of the above is "fact" vs. "uninformed myth." But his point that every race has its' relative strengths and weaknesses is well-taken.]

"I think that blacks are equal in that they are human, but, I know that there are differences that are the makings for un-ending conflict in a white society under the forced equal outcome mandate....as we see and have seen and we will continue to see.

"...there is a family in my town that tend to be very very smart people and that it's in their genes (race) and that does not hurt me. In some very real ways I could say they are superior to me. But, good for them, they have been very productive for our town. I don't...hate them for their superiority. I respect them for it.
"

There should be nothing wrong with saying "I am Black and proud to be Black." "I am Latino and proud to be Latino." "I am White and proud to be White." Trouble is, if whites say it, it's racist - if others say it, it's "cultural diversity." To ignore race and erase our differences is sticking our head in the sand. We are not all the same. But I, too, am more comforable around people with whom I have most in common. To say otherwise would make me a liar.

It's Baaack...

Not that it ever really left. A state official warns 5 million in Florida could contract swine flu in the coming year. Of the 22 residents who have died from the H1N1, 10 have died in the last three weeks.

Soon we have school season starting, that wonderful time of year when we have millions of germ-carrying humans hearded into air-tight containers, then released into the open population each day. And we wonder why flu season begins in the fall?

Here is my previous post from last April on the Swine Flu.

President Acts Stupidly During Nat'l Press Conf.

...and owes the police officer an apology.

Could it be that our President is a reactionary racist? It certainly appears so, given is knee jerk racist comment on national TV. While Hussein Obama admits he "didn't know all the details" he was quick to defend his buddy who was acting in a stupid race-bating manner. This blunder by the President is BIG.

One thing is certain: The President's remarks are polarizing, and will cause this nation to become much worse off than it was before he uttered those ill-conceived comments. But once again, his blunder reveals what he thinks, and is a consequence of his years under the influence of other radical racists.

Here is the President's friends' arrest report. The only mistake the Cambridge police made was dropping the charges. Now why did they do a stupid thing like that?

I love the Black professor's "you don't know who you are messin' with" part, indicating that he has connections and the cops need to back off - no matter how much of a belligerant, reactionary racist jerk he is. No surprise there!

Who is this good friend of Obama's, Henry Louis Gates? Gates currently serves as the Alphonse Fletcher University Professor at Harvard University, where he is Director of the W. E. B. Du Bois Institute for African and African American Research. And who was W. E. B. DuBois? He was, among other things, a Communist who separated from the NAACP because he felt they were going too far with their fight against segregration. In other words, he was resentful of attempts to merge with whitey - the same attitude that permeates Gates hostile, racist attitude.

And now, the invite of both Gates and the Sgt. Crowley to have a beer with the racist President looms large. Crowley needs some preconditions for that meeting. Who should attend with him? Maybe his attorney; maybe the Chief; maybe a couple of additional guys from his unit. Otherwise its the word of two powerful racist black buds against one white cop. Not a fair fight.

I'll suggest this much. The black racists continue to stick their foot in their mouths by claiming moral equivalency of actions of the officer and the prof. The prof was way off base with his hate-induced temper. The officer was doing his job.

Oh, and I am far from alone in seeing this duo as racist. One example is this excellent American Thinker article.

Why does it take Congress so long to grasp reality?

This article reveals how out of touch Congress and the White House really are. The American people, at least many of us, knew - months ago - we couldn't afford the misdirected and wasteful programs being proposed - even if we thought they were a good idea. Why has it taken so long for Washington to get a clue?

In this case, they are not only being proposed at the wrong time, cap 'n cool and lowest common denominator health care are bad ideas. It's like biting a dog that has rabies. It's not only the wrong time, but also a bad idea.

Bum, Ass, or Stupid?

Etymologically speaking, which came first, "bum" or "ass?" Which is a derivative of which? The words are closely related. "Bum" refers to one's hindquarters, "butt" if you will, but can also be "bum", as in "vagrant" or "scoundrel." "Ass" is the shortened version of "Jackass", a dumb donkey.

B. Hussein O-bum-a is all of the above. If nothing else confirms this, then the following articles are a clincher...

The wandering eye catching the "bum".

Again treating our allies like the enemy.

Known from the start-Obama is ashamed of America...

He made it no secret...
Michelle made it no secret...

They both told us during the campaign.

And the voters of America were caught up in a "rock star groupie"-like trance with little if any concern or knowledge about the issues.

Why else would he apologize to our enemies for America's policies?

Obama's actions during his six months in his Presidency are true to his 20-year radical America-hating associations and beliefs.

He is shouting "God damn America" with these actions:

- Cap and Trade and proposed energy policy: He told us during his campaign that
“Under my plan of a cap and trade system electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. Businesses would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money. They will pass that cost onto consumers.”
Senator Barack Obama
Speaking on his energy policies
San Francisco Chronicle
January 17, 2008

Even neo-democrat Colin Powell expressed concern about out-of-control spending for way too many programs when our national and consumer debts are unpayable. It is not the time to finance a new car when the loans on the last five can't be paid while your family is unemployed or facing layoffs. Cap and Trade may create a few thousand new jobs, but it will put 10's of thousand out of work, and substantially increase costs for 10's of millions. If some key objectives of cap and trade are worthwhile such as energy independence (as opposed to stemming "global warming" - haa!), then the program ought to be focused on that. Every US resource ought to be tapped for that objective, including slightly dirty coal. The primary source of "greenhouse gas" is B. Hussein O. himself.

- He treats allies like enemies and enemies like friends: He condemns "meddling" in the affairs of our enemies when he could have leant some moral support to the Iranian dissenters (he lent some 5 days later after Hillary's urging), while he meddles in the affairs of allies like Israel and Honduras who are fighting for their existence surrounded by a sea of radicalism (Islamic or Communist).

- He never met a Muslim he didn't fawn over: He is either ignorant of the aim of world wide Islam to dominate the world via their fascist ideology, or he is part of their plan.

- Anti-personal initiative and risk-reward: He is treating American business like ill-conceived dirt, trashing financial incentive and free enterprise while amassing government involvement and control of a major chunk of formerly productive American enterprise.

- Ill-conceived appointments: He appoints tax cheats (Treasury Secretary and others) and racists (Sonia Sotomayor and others) to high positions.

- Greatest national debt in history: He is driving future generations into slavery with his out-of-control bailouts and massive inappropriate programs (national health care and "global warming" policy.

I may have missed a few biggies, but my point is made.

Barack Hussein and his wife disliked America so much in the past that after his makeover they will "for the first time in their lives" feel proud.

They won't "hate" and desire to "damn" America quite so much after they change it into something it has never been, and never sought to become.

During my first couple of years in college, many freshmen and sophomores were concerned about many things including the environment and the constraints on drugs and sex. They hated "the system". Many rebelled against order and tradition. They were hell-bent to do any assinine thing to change the "status quo" - without much experience, and with very little thought.

Obama and much of Congress (and unfortunately, many Americans) are acting the same way.
