The lyrics of “Reason to Believe” came to mind. I was thinking about the confused souls who are addicted to the persistent lies of the Mainstream Media (the ABCs, CNNs, NBCs of the world and their prolific like kind such as recently lying FOX).
These lyrics depict the difficult emotions involved in addiction and blind denial when people prefer the devil they know to whatever else is out there.
To understand something is a lie, we must realize there is truth.
These lyrics are dedicated to those who prefer the comfort of the lies of liberal media while they are tormented and saddened by the existence of truth they prefer to avoid – one definition of unhealthy co-dependence.
"Reason To Believe"
(originally by Tim Hardin)
If I listened long enough to you
I'd find a way to believe that it's all true
Knowing that you lied straight-faced while I cried
Still I look to find a reason to believe
Someone like you makes it hard to live without
somebody else
Someone like you makes it easy to give
never think about myself
If I gave you time to change my mind
I'd find a way just to leave the past behind
Knowing that you lied straight-faced while I cried
Still I look to find a reason to believe
If I listened long enough to you
I'd find a way to believe that it's all true
Knowing that you lied straight-faced while I cried
Still I look to find a reason to believe
Someone like you makes it hard to live without
somebody else
Someone like you makes it easy to give
never think about myself
Yes, I understand there are more popular versions of this song by Rod Stewart, Johnny Cash, Glen Campbell and dozens of others. But they tend to be more upbeat and frivolous, missing the irony of the lyrics. An old Neil Young captures the essence.
