How do the editorial slants of CNN and Fox News differ from one another?

Here are the top headlines on CNN and Fox news websites at 10:30am, Eastern Time:

CNN: Pirates vow to kill U.S., French sailors

FOX: U.S. Mulls Strike on Pirates

This is the impression I get from these news source reporting priorities:

The CNN headline highlights the consequences of our actions, an emphasis on the reactions of the pirates to what we did. Like an "oh oh, maybe we shouldn't have freed our folks from the pirates - now look what will happen." Bottom line: a negative, hopeless feeling spin.

The Fox headline highlights our possible future additional actions, an emphasis on additional steps we might take toward eliminating the piracy threat. To me, this is headline provides a feeling that we are in control, not at the mercy of the pirates - a feeling of hope and optimism.

This contrast in reporting reveals the nature of CNN reporting, which caters to liberals, whiners, and the pessimistic souls, and the nature of Fox reporting which caters to conservatives, the optimists, and the self-reliant among us.

CNN attracts those with negative feelings about our nation, and believe we are too smug (i.e. overly self-confident).

Fox attracts those with positive, hopeful feelings about our nation, and believe we are too negative and critical of our nation.

While not all readers accept the credibility of this simplistic comparison, these differences in editorial emphasis have been noticed and commented on by the general public over the years. These distinctions are significant enough for advertisers to tailor their marketing to the different demographics these networks attract. This is just the first time I've taken the time, personally, to document a specific instance that highlights these distinctions.

...because that's where the rockets were shot from!

The CNN home page headline reads "Refugee camp missile kills Hamas commander."

Note that the first words of the headline are "Refugee camp." That makes the Israeli's sound like the evil ones, killing people in a defenseless, humanitarian "refugee camp." After all, what do Americans associate with the words "refugee" and "camp" but helpless, dislocated, peace-loving folks temporarily residing around campfires toasting marshmallows. And here comes this dastardly neighbor, killing their spiritual leader. Man, this is like killing the head of the boy scout troop. The shame of it. (Note: The headline that follows the CNN home page link reads: "Air strike on refugee camp kills Hamas commander" "Refugee camp" is still prominent.)

On the other hand, this "refugee camp" was the site of additional rocket launches fired into Israel just moments earlier. This "refugee camp" housed not just the "campers" but additional rockets and munitions. The Islamists have nearly perfected their propaganda war by routinely using homes, mosques, schools (and human shields) as the sites of choice for storing, manufacturing, equipping, and firing the tools of their trade.

The more accurate and truthful headline would read:

"Islamic leader killed moments after firing terror rocket at Israel." And the story would go on..."Moments after firing several of thousands of rockets aimed at Israel towns over the past several months, an Islamic terrorist "spiritual leader" behind this terror against Israel was killed by nearly instantaneous Israeli air response. Most of the rockets and stored munitions are located in homes, mosques and schools throughout Gaza, purposely placed to achieve the greatest possible propaganda advantage. After years of rocket attacks by Hamas and their Islam-inspired hatred of Jews, Israel had no choice but to strike the source of the terror in Gaza.

Shame on you, CNN, for misusing your wonderful command of the English language to mislead and deceive in favor of your apparent agenda to discredit the one civilized entity sharing western values in the middle east.

Yeah, Let's Take Our Enemies' Word for It

CNN is apparently making a big deal of this. Our troops confronted an Islamist with an AK-47 aimed at them and the troops did him in. The locals are giving conflicting testimony. Yeah, I'd go with the folks who hate us, wouldn't you?

Immature jackasses in need of adult supervision...

Here they are, the immature, irresponsible stupid guys - the lower end of the advertising professions' bottom feeder food chain.

Clever, but stupid. And what do you want to bet that these hacks will try to spin the circumstances to make the Boston officials sound like they over-reacted to their ill-conceived publicity stunt?

The truth is, these stupid guys fail to understand or care about the reality of the serious aspects of life. They clearly suffer from a lack of adult supervision, both from their parents and from CNN hierarchy. Apparently, the hierarchy at CNN also require more adult supervision, but I digress. Many "adult children" today have this same innate la la land mentality in common - an emotional IQ in the negatives.

This points to the larger issue involving the disconnectedness of generations in our culture. Parents are often too busy with sports, dancing, Hollywood gossip, divorce, watching TV, making money, and being otherwise too self-absorbed to maintain effective communication and respect to influence the next generation in a positive manner. Fortunately, despite parental lapes, some kids surprise their parents on the side of responsible and mature behavior.

In this case, though, what kind of parental upbringing, if they had any, do these apes reflect? Or are they degenerates inspite of parental influence?
