The Two Faces of “Entitlements”

We need a different phrase to describe our growing culture of dependency and sloth other than “entitlement society.”  The word “entitlement” was once a positive word that has morphed into a negative, every bit as much as the word “gay” (meaning happy) has morphed into a negative (meaning “pervert homosexual”).

Many have legitimately earned our entitlements.  Through decades of faithful work the majority of us built careers that enabled us to put a chunk of our earnings into the social security system every month.  Others built businesses working 12 and 14 hour days, taking risks, experiencing failure, and coming out the other side stronger.  These are truly “entitled” to those funds.  They both earned and deserve them.

And then there are those who believe they are “entitled” who create a whole new meaning to the word.  And the rest of us are tainted because we buy into the misuse of the word “entitlement.”

The shirkers, the complainers, the professional welfare recipients, the system gamers: Most of these take the label “entitled” with a blissfully ignorant smirk on their face – the same as you saw on the woman who takes the “Obama-money.”  They couldn’t care less that they didn’t earn it or where it comes from.  They feel entitled because they have been conditioned by society and our government that they are.

There needs to be either a different, decidedly negative name for those who undeservedly suck on the system, maybe something like “system suckers” to replace the “entitled” label.  Or there needs to be a different name for those who are entitled in the positive sense, something like “foolish enablers.”  Hey, that may not be a positive term, but it sure is accurate.

It all boils down to this.  We have a culture of givers and takers, workers and shirkers.  The proportion of  shirkers and takers is beginning to outnumber the workers and givers.  Communists use the terms “haves” and “have nots.”  Here’s the rub:  The “haves” have for good reason. and the have nots” have not for a good reason.  We need to understand those reasons and promote the ideals that enabled the “haves” and demonize the rot that disable the have nots.  We are not doing that.  We are doing the opposite.  We are demonizing success and rewarding failure.

That is why the legitimately entitled are being demonized and the system suckers continue to be rewarded.  “Enabler” is the one word out of the thousands in the psychiatric lexicon that is worthwhile for all of us “entitleds” to perfectly understand.

From Merriam-Webster:  one who enables another to persist in self-destructive behavior (as substance abuse) [or welfare abuse or system sucking – ed.] by providing excuses or by helping that individual avoid the consequences of such behavior.

Enablers (entitled) are often as sick as the enabled (society suckers) and perpetuate the problems of the enabled.  Liberals and progressives are enablers.  Are liberals and progressives “sick”?  Seems logical to me, don’t you agree, Captain.

This definition needs to be applied on the cultural level.  Our society confuses the words “enabling” and “empowering”.  Here is a web page that discusses the difference.  We need to apply these distinctions to the larger society as if our nation depended on it.

Liberal “social gospel” Christians promote the Quadnity

While Christians generally believe in the Trinity, the singularity of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit as God, socialist Christians add one more:  The Government.  Thus is born the Quadnity:  Father, Son, Holy Spirit and Government.

Government becomes a god-like entity that creates the moral obligation to defer to the government to take care of our fellow man, woman, child, pervert, and slackard.  Oh, not merely the moral obligation, but the coerced obligation, similar to the coercive doctrine and practices of Islamic Sharia.

Instead of the Gospel being a personal relationship with God, Quadnitarians turn that over to the 4th person of the Quadnity.

We no longer have a personal obligation to help our fellow man as God urges us to voluntarily do.  Quadnitarians prefer the coercive, enslaving power of government to mandate that we turn over to the government all the 4th person of the Godhead requires of us to sustain others in the lifestyle for which they successfully lobbied.

And that is the Social Gospel in a nutshell.

The irony in all this is that the liberal Christians that promote this Social Gospel for the most part don’t even believe in the traditional Biblical doctrines of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.  So all that is left in their view is “God, the Government.”

An instance when I trust government more than business…

Not all is well at McDonald’s

I heard that McDonald’s was inexplicably closed on Wednesday afternoon, May 14.  I drove by there to get a cup of scrumptious McDonald’s coffee this morning, the 15th, thinking it would be open .  It was still closed, with the parking lot blocked off from customer access and the curious.  There was a  McDonald’s shift manager near the entrance telling would-be customers it was closed.  She handed out cards for free meals to those who stopped by.  I asked her “why are you closed?”  She said “I don’t really know.”  What I read into that is it is something so disgusting we can’t tell you.

Still curious, when I got back home I made a few phone calls.  The first call was made to the store.  I asked why they are closed.  The answer given was “we are fixing up a few things.”  While that was an honest answer, as far as it went, I knew it was incomplete.  Without revealing my sources, I was led to the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation web site where I searched “McDonald’s 466a”.

This is what popped up:

https://www.myfloridalicense.com/inspectionDates.asp?licid=3611723

Here is the reason for the store’s closure:

35A-03-4
Basic - Dead roaches on premises.4 dead under three compartment sink, 1 dead on cookline, 1 dead near mop sink,

35A-08-4
High Priority - Live flies in kitchen. Chemical storage room

35A-05-4
High Priority - Roach activity present as evidenced by live roaches found. 1 live on three compartment sink wall, 3 live under three compartment sink, 5 live near water heater, 1 live in laundry room, 3 live in chemical storage room, 1 live in cabinet front counter, 2 live under reach in cooler coffee making area

McDonald’s had two opportunities to tell me the reasons for the store being closed.  They failed.  Government did the job that a business refused to do.  Give a star to the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
